What is the Coaches vs. Cancer 3-Point Challenge?
The Coaches vs. Cancer 3-Point Challenge is a nationwide program featuring participating college and high school basketball teams. Basketball fans everywhere are encouraged to pledge a donation for each three-point shot their favorite team makes. All proceeds of the 3-Point Challenge support the American Cancer Society.
What organizations are operating the 3-Point Challenge?
The 3-Point Challenge is operated by Coaches vs. Cancer, a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society® and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Visit coachesvscancer.org to learn more about the Coaches vs. Cancer program. Coaches vs. Cancer has teamed up with Pledge It to operate the online fundraising campaigns.
Why isn’t my school included in the 3-Point Challenge?
The 3-Point Challenge features college and high school basketball teams across the country. Participating teams have chosen to take part in the fundraising program to support the American Cancer Society. The program only features teams that have elected to participate.
I'm part of a high school team. Do I have to use 3-pointers?
No! High school teams can select any stat that fits best for their team to participate.
Who is receiving the funds raised through the 3-Point Challenge?
All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer.
How much of my donation will go to the American Cancer Society?
Approximately 97.5% of each donation goes to the American Cancer Society.
Can I make a one-time flat donation instead of performance pledging?
Yes, you have the option to make either a performance pledge based on three-pointers made by your team or make a one-time flat donation.
Will I receive a receipt for my donation?
Yes, you will receive a receipt for your donation. Receipts are emailed immediately after your credit card is charged. If you are unable to find your email receipt, contact Pledge It customer support at support@pledgeit.org or 888-847-9854.
When will my credit card be charged?
For performance pledges (pledge per three-pointer), your credit card will be charged once at the end of the program; in early March for college and early February for high school (donors to team campaigns that are running for the full season will be charged once monthly). You will receive an invoice 48 hours prior to your card being charged, which summarizes the three-pointers made by your team and your total donation amount. For one-time flat donations, your credit card will be charged immediately upon your payment confirmation.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, your charitable donation to the American Cancer Society is tax-deductible. Your donation receipt will include the IRS-required information to file your donation as tax-deductible. You should consult your financial planner or tax adviser to determine the exact tax advantages of any gift you are considering.
Can I cancel or edit my pledge?
Yes, you can cancel or edit your pledge amount by logging in to your User Dashboard on Pledge It and selecting "Manage Pledge." Pledge amounts can be changed or canceled any time prior to your credit card being charged. If you have any problems or questions, please contact us at support@pledgeit.org.
